"I only hope that the truth about what happened receives the same amount of attention that the hoax did.”

© 2020 Jim Spence -  Sometimes the states of minds of progressives are difficult to get your arms around. Americans are thankfully a very tolerant and generous society. And collectively, we have been getting more tolerant for decades.
However, these are strange days indeed. It is our own local, state, and federal governments that are ordering the self-destruction of the U.S. economy. Sadly, poor people will pay disproportionately for the folly of leaders who think that destroying living standards is suddenly the smartest way to fight a new virus.
We notice that the number of flu deaths are not reported daily, though they dwarf the number of coronavirus deaths. However, this has not stopped the media and the Democrats from using the virus as an excuse for committing arson on the economy.
George Orwell had it right when he said the goal of power is “more power.”
Still, there is strange curiosity within the Democratic Party that somehow the party members would prefer the fomenting of a asinine self-destructive panic to another four years of being without control of the White House.

Taking a couple of steps back helps any objective observer realize that with a booming economy, full employment, and good performing investments, the Democrats knew winning in November was going to be tough. They had already tried the Russian scam and then the Ukraine scam. All efforts were to no avail. Then the Democrats in the media stumbled on to a virus that was kind of like the flu……it was dangerous to the elderly and those with chronic breathing issues.
After a few misleading headlines and "news segments" with stories underneath containing dubious fatality math and voila! They had themselves a panic going that could get Trump!
All of this is mindful of the astonishing story of Jussie Smollett. Remember Jussie? He was the Trump-hating progressive actor who concocted a story to promote the racism narrative that keeps the black community voting Democrat.
Last year Smollett’s story was that he was attacked in Chicago by two white men armed with bleach, a noose, and wearing pro-Trump hats in the wee hours of the morning. His story did not pass the sniff test. But with the assistance of the progressive anti-Trump “resistance,” and especially the progressive news media, Smollett's con job was accepted as factual for a few days.
The reality of America is just the opposite of the Smollett/progressive narrative. If America were still as racist and homophobic as was asserted, there would be no need for Smollett and others to "stage" bogus “hate crimes” and resort to atrocious lies.
Understandably, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was furious with Smollett for wasting scarce Chicago police resources and needlessly stirring up racial tension. “Bogus police reports cause real harm, Johnson said. "They do harm to every legitimate victim who’s in need of support by police and investigators as well as the citizens of this city,” Johnson added.
Surely Smollett knew that what he was doing would create real harm. The question gets back to the mindset of the states of minds of progressives these days. How far are they willing to go beyond creating real harm for power?
Chief Johnson added another comment that was even more spot on. He said, “I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention. I only hope that the truth about what happened receives the same amount of attention that the hoax did.” Well it didn't.
Nobody in the Democratic Party addressed the felonious lies of Jessie Smollett or the murder rate in Chicago. They did not do it then nor do they do it now.
Democrats have moved on. They keep going from scam to scam. These days they are promoting absurd behaviors designed to destroy the economy. They have created cover for themselves thinking these ridiculous policies can now be blamed on cornonavirus.....and perhaps the resulting financial hardships will be be blamed on Trump.
Well now. Maybe this mindset we have discussed is not so hard to understand after all. Jobs, prosperity, and sensible conduct is not nearly as important as taking back the White House.
