Apple: Too Many Cool Products and Happy Customers?

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating Apple Computer's mobile device rules for the possibility that the company might be engaging in practices that "harm" competition. Sadly, there is a bureaucratic turf war between the FTC and the Dept. of Justice over which department gets to have the fun harassing Apple.  Now that is competition! This investigation would seem to be one more way for taxpayers to fund actions that help insure that the only innovation taking place in America someday very soon......is the innovative methods that government lawyers find to justify their existence. Read details here:

Governor Richardson declares Saturday June 12 "Cougar Smart New Mexico Day"

In June of 2008, a New Mexico man was killed and partially eaten by a cougar. While such occurances are rare, Governor Richardson has declared Saturday “Cougar Smart New Mexico Day.” The Governor stated “New Mexico is cougar country, as people get outdoors and enjoy the state's wildlife heritage; they need to stay alert to the possibility that cougars and bears share those lands. read more

Consumers Pull Back in May

Despite or perhaps because of massive U.S. government borrowing and spending, the American consumer slashed their spending levels in May. No doubt the nightmarish fiscal problems in Greece and other nations in Southern Europe have given Americans pause.  As states like California rush headlong on the path of fiscal self-destruction it may be the consumer is connecting the dots. It would seem that only the attorneys (above) who are on track to capitalize in the gulf oil spill are on track to overcome the stubbornly high jobless rates. Read details here:

U.S. Soccer vs. England


The American soccer team will face the English team in their first World Cup match. Noise averse fans watching in the stadium in South Africa or on television will endure a seemingly endless and annoying bee-like buzz coming out of thousands of plastic noise making horns fans bring to the stadium. This shrill humming buzz may well be the dumbest intentionally and perpetually produced sound by fans in the history of athletics. Bad News for the WAC and the Aggies

Boise State is leaving the WAC.  The Broncos are jumping ship to the Mountain West Conference in what is likely to be the first of many conference realignments. BSU has been a boon for the WAC with multiple major bowl appearances generating huge dollars for member schools.  This move will lead to lost revenue streams for the NMSU athletic department.
