From Townhall.com - Those who've followed this column over the years know that when President Obama was first elected, I tried valiantly to give him the benefit of the doubt. I believed for the best that his promise of "change" would be an exercise in moderation and sound judgment. But that didn't happen, and this past week's elections were a comprehensive rebuke of the first two years of his presidency. What amazed me most was his press conference following the elections. The White House press corps finally found the courage to ask some tough questions. And the president? He seemed not to comprehend -- or at least not to acknowledge -- the message the American people had just sent him, courtesy of a resounding electoral defeat for Democrats nationwide. Read here:

The next election cycle is only a short 24 months away. Let me lay it out with an analogy, since President Obama is BIG on analogies. When you duck hook your tee shot into the woods and you find yourself in a horrible lie with virtually no line of flight to the green you take your medicine and play your next shot back to safety and move on. I don't believe Obama will get off so easy, in the next election, if he chooses to ignore the message that was just sent. If he has any hope of retaining ANY of his legislative achievements he had better TAKE HIS MEDICINE now and move ahead. The new Republican house majority is obligated to pass new legislation that will trim the federal budget, reduce the size of government and repeal and/or substantially change many of the provisions in Obama care. Tort reform is just one cost cutting measure that was deliberately left out of the existing healthcare legislation. Obama had better get control of his ego or he and the remaining democrats are very likely to receive their own pink slips next time around. I can think of no one better suited to console President Obama than former President Bill Clinton.
