I don't want LA County and NY City determining the outcome and policies of future presidential administrations. The electoral college was designed to give rural areas the same amount of say in government as massive metro areas. Why should people living in the West be subject to the socialist whims of city folks? Ain't gonna happen.
Sorry but the Constitution for the United States forbids compacts of any kind among the individual states. So this entire action by two or more states is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
Article I, Section 10, Paragraph 1.
Besides, the Framers knew the public could never elect a proper president and di their best to keep the election of the president out of the people's and out of Congress' hands. The parties totally destroyed the system set up by our Constitution. George Washington warned us about the parties.
The members of the electoral college are to be selected by the method approved by each state BUT the electors cannot be told for whom to vote. The members of the college are to select the candidate THEY think best NOT the one the people want.
Remember: Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard. - H. L. Mencken
WE are not smarter than the Framers. We have done nothing but foul things up. Each generation destroys more than the previous.
It would appear the left is preparing for an assault on socialism. As usual, preparations include consolidating the weight of the vote to metro areas and disenfranchise people living outside the city.
I can see why the democrats want the popular vote to count in New Mexico. They figure they'll get two or three hundred thousand illegal aliens to vote throughout the state of New Mexico. After all, that's how the democrats retained power in 2010. That's their plan in 2012.
