1) The city should establish citizen review boards. NO INTERNAL REVIEW BY OTHER COPS.

2) The city should contract with attorneys/law professors to teach monthly classes to the police officers concerning laws.

3) Officers who have even the appearance of not behaving as the servants they are, should be placed on unpaid leave, no excuses, no exceptions.

These police work FOR us. They are our SERVANTS. They must be taught their place. They are here to deal with the nasty stuff but they are here at the will of the people. And they must give respect to the people BEFORE they receive it in return.

These problems are not small in number nor are they limited to Albuquerque. We have a problem, a problem that came with the militarization of our police. They are not the old cop on a block walking a beat. They abuse those who stand up for their rights. It is time they are put back under the control of the people. Civilian control is a central concept of American government.
