From capitolreportnewmexico.com -The rap on Heather Wilson as she tries to take the Republican nomination in the fight to replace the soon-to-be-vacated US Senate seat of Jeff Bingaman is that she’s not a true, dyed-in-the-red conservative. One of her opponents in the race is Lt. Governor John Sanchez, who had advertised himself as a “one of those leaders who will stand up for principled, conservative values.” Well, nobody’s going to doubt Sen. Jim DeMint’s (R-South Carolina) conservative qualifications and in regards to the New Mexico Senate race, he told Jonathan Karl of ABC News this: “[Heather's] a friend, but we’ve talked to her and I don’t think Heather’s going to be thought of as a conservative, and she’s got a good opponent. We may get involved with that race, but we haven’t made a final decision. I won’t commit, at this point, but I think we’re going to have a strong conservative there.” More News New Mexico
