UNM's Presidential "Search" Fee Will Cost $130,000

KOB TV - It is going to cost more than a quarter of a million dollars for UNM to find a new president. The university said the new price is actually $40,000 less than the last time they searched for a president in 2006.
Officials said they were able to negotiate the search firm's fee, reducing it from around $195,000 to $130,000. The fee is the most expensive part of the search. UNM President David Schmidly announced back in April he will not renew his contract when it expires in June of 2012.

Searches are best left to professionals.
All too often those with PhDs believe themselves to be capable of performing any task.

Here's the truth concerning 99% of those professors.

Professors are NOT really qualified to hire other people.

Professors are not qualified to manage.

Professors are not qualified to administer.

AND

Professors are quite often not qualified to teach/educate.

Professors are most often selected for their ability to publish and bring fame, or infamy, to their institution. This is driven by greed and not by any desire to improve the world.

So let UNM use a professional service to locate candidates. In the final run, they will still have a bunch of folks, regents, professors, etc, choose someone and those doing the choosing will still be incapable of making a good choice.

While you are discussing this expense, how about looking into the expense/propriety of the Mercer/"prove your dependents garbage" going on at NMSU?
