Pearce: It is Time for Eric Holder to Resign

Steve Pearce
Washington, DC (November 15, 2011) Today, Congressman Steve Pearce called for the resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder. During Operation Fast and Furious, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) allowed weapons to enter Mexico. Multiple ATF agents have testified that they were ordered to let the weapons go, even though they requested permission to seize them. Last week, the former US Attorney for Arizona admitted that he leaked confidential information to the press about ATF agents who blew the whistle on the failed gun running operation.

“Attorney General Eric Holder was not forthright in his previous testimony before Congress, and continues to raise far more questions than he has answers,” said Pearce. “He provides contradicting statements on what he knew and when he knew it about ‘Operation Fast and Furious.’ Before the House Judiciary Committee in May, he claimed he only learned of the operation’s existence ‘in the last few weeks.’ In reality, he received briefings on the details of the program as early as July 2010.”
“Despite a subpoena, the Attorney General is uncooperative with investigators,” Pearce continued. “Documents are heavily redacted, and his testimony is totally inconsistent with the evidence that we have already seen.
Brian Terry
Plus, he arrogantly asserts that more gun restrictions would solve the problem, and then refuses to apologize to the family of Brian Terry, the Border Patrol agent slain by guns that his Department of Justice allowed to ‘walk’ into Mexico. This is an example of why Americans are losing faith in their government. High-level officials should be held accountable for their actions, and must show respect for the people and the Congress. Mr. Holder has proven he is incapable of performing his duties. He should resign immediately.”

One of the common threads that runs through democrats is their stubbornness in recognizing when it's time to resign in the face of public disgrace. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a local politicians, state elected, US Congress or US Senate...they hang on way too long. Charlie Rangel, Anthony Weiner, Jerome Block, Eric Holder and now Steven Chu. No matter how much they've disgraced themselves, their office or the administration they cling to power like a Moray eel to an unsuspecting scuba diver's hand. They are completely shameless.
