APD Oversight Under Review

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — City officials say the report is especially important now with the department still in the shadow of a long string of officer involved shootings. It was issued by MGT of America, a private company hired by the city to make sure the committee is efficient and honest. There are pages and pages of evaluations, findings and recommendations concerning the city's independent review officer, APD's internal affairs division and the police oversight commission. Among them are that the commission should be required to have more training and to attend specific events. It also suggests that the city's independent review officer be required to attend and investigate each officer involved shooting as the investigation unfolds.
