KOAT - Hispanic advocacy groups and northern New Mexico Democrats are challenging new political districts for a state utility regulator. The New Mexico League of United Latin American Citizens filed a lawsuit in federal court last Friday seeking to invalidate Public Regulation Commission districts that were ordered by a state court judge. The lawsuit contends the redistricting plan dilutes Hispanic voting power in northern New Mexico by moving most of San Miguel and Mora counties into a solidly Republican district in eastern New Mexico.
