New Mexico has dropped from having the 23rd-best tax climate for business in the United States to 33rd, according to an annual survey. The Tax Foundation, a think-tank based in Washington DC that studies tax policies and is known as generally critical of tax increases, has recently released its 2011 State Business Tax Climate Index, which the 50 states according to five indices: corporate tax, individual income tax, sales tax, unemployment insurance tax, and property tax.
