Why would anyone representing the people allow a sovereign entity to invade our commerce system and deliberately allow their tax exempt status to put those of us who pay taxes and are at a distinct disadvantage, cost wise, to drive those of us out of business who sell a competing product? If the Indians were willing to waive ALL their tax and administrative cost advantages and compete on a TOTALLY level playing field I would agree to consider their application for a New Mexico gaming permit as I would for any other group or entity that applies. Absent their waiver of ALL the benefits conveyed to them as a sovereign, the answer should be a resounding, "NO".
