Palo Verde Re-Licensed for 20 Years

KOB TV - PHOENIX (AP) - Federal regulators have renewed the operating licenses at the nation's largest nuclear power plant west of Phoenix for an additional 20 years. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Thursday that the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station will be licensed to operate through 2047. The triple-reactor plant is located in Wintersburg, about 50 miles west of downtown Phoenix. Palo Verde supplies electricity to about 4 million customers in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California. It's run by Arizona Public Service Co. for a consortium of power companies in the four states. Read full story here: News New Mexico
