What's the difference?

© 2018 Jim Spence - Look at the massive wasteful spending bill just passed by Congress and signed by the president and one might wonder if there are any financially responsible people left in Washington.

One of my fellow independents asked me if there are any differences left between Democrats and Republicans? It is an interesting question. As disappointed as I am in the Republicans I have voted for over the last few years, I realize that they are never WORSE than Democrats……but they are not our philosophical brothers and sisters. Republicans who hold elected office manage their own careers (political franchises) and they will throw intelligent policy under the bus anytime they think it suits THEIR immediate needs.

A couple of days ago a friend sent me this description of the difference between Democrats and Republicans out there in the real world. Have a look and pass this on if it makes sense:

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.

If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.

If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated recognition.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.

A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.

A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.

If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican is unhappy with an election, he grumbles and goes to work the next day.

If a Democrat is unhappy with an election, he burns down a Starbucks, throws rocks at cops and takes two-weeks off for therapy.

If a Republican reads this column, he or she might well forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

If a Democrat sees this column he or she will delete after reading a couple fair examples because he or she is "offended."

These contrasts are real and the truth is the truth.
