National Debt Per Taxpayer Update

News New Mexico began tracking "DEBT PER TAXPAYER" when we took the air on July 1, 2010. In just two months, the amount of new debt issued per taxpayer by the federal government has increased from $118,759 to $120,753. This works out to $1,994 of ADDITIONAL DEBT since July 1. At the present rate the U.S. federal government will borrow nearly $12,000 per year for every taxpayer in the country. This amount is in addition to all the taxes it collects from paychecks and businesses.
