Denish Campaign Silent So Far on Ballooning State Budget Deficit

Diane Denish
Yesterday elected officials in Santa Fe emerged from meetings with more bleak news on the condition of the New Mexico state budget. Apparently despite $170 million in tax increases enacted earlier this year, the latest state revenue projections suggest a $260 million budget shortfall in the fiscal year that started in July. The campaign for GOP gubernatorial candidate Susana Martinez issued a statement late yesterday on the fiasco. Martinez blamed the mismanagement of state resources on the Richardson/Denish administration. Democratic Party candidate and current Lt. Governor Diane Denish has thus far been silent on the latest report of red ink at the state level.
