LAS CRUCES — Playing without its head coach or starting quarterback didn't seem to phase the Las Cruces High football team on Friday.
The Bulldawgs opened District 3-5A play with a 42-7 win over Gadsden at the Field of Dreams. The Bulldawgs moved to 6-1 and Gadsden fell to 1-5.
Las Cruces head coach Jim Miller wasn't on the sideline on Friday due to an illness in the family. LCHS senior quarterback Jeremy Buurma had a sling around his left shoulder after separating his clavicle last week at Artesia.
Miller returned to Roswell on Wednesday, leaving the gameplan to offensive coordinator Mark Lopez and defensive coordinator Brent Jaquess. Read more here.
