House Energy Committee Chairman Brian Egolf (Santa Fe) is going to hold a "follow-up" hearing on Wednesday to learn more about the "causes" of rolling blackouts and natural gas shortages during the days when record low temperatures hit New Mexico two weeks ago. Observers say it is unlikely that Egolf will take a long look in the mirror before the hearing. No doubt the terrible effects of the micro-managing of energy supplies by the federal government, Governor Bill Richardson, the Egolf committee, and an army of state regulators will not be a topic for discussion.
In prefacing the hearing Egolf said, "This is an important next step in our effort to learn what caused the recent outage and how to prevent a future crisis. I am very happy that we will have a panel of experts to help our work." No doubt Egolf and others on his committee who control energy policy in the state will continue to gloss over the lack of temperature data to support their global warming theories for the last fourteen years. And observers we spoke with suggest that even in the face of the coldest winter in decades, Egolf is certain to make sure the state stays on a global warming theory-driven policy path that virtually assures future rolling blackouts and gas shortages. The looming shutdown of three economically viable electricity generators in the Four Corners region (not too mention the lost jobs and tax revenues) speaks much louder than any of the rhetoric that might be offered up for consumption by the uninformed during the hearings held by the House Energy Committee on Wednesday.

Unit 1,2,and 3 were shut down by Arizona Power in order to save money. Arizona Power bought out the share in unit 4 and 5 from Southern Cal Edison. Along with the new state of the art Coal Plant in Springerville Arizona Power does not need Unit 1,2 and 3. During the winter the natural gas plants around Phoenix are shut down because the Springerville plant is producing enough power for their needs. The Springerville plant has even bypassed coal from New Mexico and is bringing coal from Wyoming to power the plant.
So I have to wait to get approval from a bunch of far out right wingers that are not interested in a fair argument on a subject and would rather bounce around on a radio show never getting a complete thought out there before being interrupted. It's your blog so I guess you can do what you want with it.
Well, Ernie...I listen to the radio show almost every day. The radio show is about sharing ideas (that actually ARE ideas) and siding with best practices solutions. Naturally, whacked out left-wing intolerant goons don't really give a rodent's posterior about logical policy decisions. Hence your frustration with the radio show hosts who quickly shoot down DUMB ideas, illogical, ideologically based drivel from intolerant left-wing kooks. I love your show guys, keep up the good work! As a matter of fact, some of my neighbors drop by for a cup of coffee while we listen to your show and catch up. In a certain way, your show has brought some of us together where before we would simmer privately in anger over the asinine policies of this administration and the left-wing idiots who once held state offices locally. All we need to do now is come up with some local candidates that can rid the community of the entire city council. We enjoy the format, the subject material and the clear overall non-partisan approach to the issues you guys and gals discuss on the air. What a breath of fresh air, thank you and keep up the good work.
