Bill O'Reilly: Calling an Audible

Commentary by Bill O'Reilly - As a former quarterback, I know that when a game plan is not working, you change strategy. Fast. If you don't, you will likely lose the contest and have to endure the ignominy of failure. If President Obama were calling signals for the Washington Redskins, he would have been relieved a long time ago. His economic blueprint of spending a large amount of federal tax dollars in order to stimulate consumer spending and create government-suggested jobs has obviously not worked, and it's run up a huge debt in the process.Remember "cash for clunkers," whereby the feds gave you money to upgrade your car? Well, Mr. Obama's entire economic vision might be classified as a clunker, if the truth be told. It is perplexing that the president does not seem to smell the panic. You don't have to be an economic genius like Barney Frank to know that government mandated economic stimulus has been a disaster. It is time for new solutions.Blaming the Tea Party is not a solution. Blaming W. is not advancing the ball. Let America be America. Unleash the private sector, Mr. President. Read more

Dear Bill...

The issue for America's future is not about blaming "W", the Tea Party, or even blaming you. The issue IS what should be done now: For twelve long years, the Bush-tax cuts have simply FAILED to perform as promised and have already cost our country $2 trillion in lost revenue. While the wealthiest Americans have profited greatly, there has been no "high-tide to lift-all-boats" or any of that "trickle-down" for that matter. The reverse has been their actual result! The wealthiest American's can keep their 'gotten $2 trillion but, that economic debacle has clearly failed. Its NOW high time for them to stop greedily wanting to continue taking more money, while most of their American compatriots continue to truly suffer.

Yes, President Obama has failed to deliver on ending those W's failed tax-cuts for the wealthiest, but, the president is the ONLY one who continues to try to end them, even as I write this email. Yes Bill, America's Congressional team of Democrats, Republicans, and now Tea Party green-horns have also, not performed well as an economic team. This 'failure' is NOT due to the quarterback's bad calls, however, but rather IS due to the Republican's and new Tea Party greenhorn's inability to put America's team-interest ahead of their own and their backers' self-interest, hatred and pettiness. Therefore, it is THEY, and not the quarterback, that must be removed from this game, at least until THEY show the ability to be economic-team players. No other option makes any logical sense. It's not about abortion... It's not about gay marriage... or any other blessed thing. ...END THE TAX CUTS NOW, just like our President has been demanding, and the American team wins!

It used to be that having the letters "DR" preceding your name often garnered immediate credibility by the public and acceptance that whatever such a person had to say could be trusted to contain elements of truth and intellect. The economic policies implemented in G.W. Bush's first term are what led us out of the recession he inherited from the Clinton administration. His economic policies led to historically low unemployment and a prosperous business environment. Since Bush's passing of medicare plan "D", the two decade build up of the real estate bubble, 911, 10 years of war and the unprecedented spending jihad of the current administration, America has been resilient in that we're not already beyond the possibility of avoiding absolute bankruptcy and civil chaos. It's nothing short of amazing. It's divine intervention. All that being said, it never ceases to amaze me how persons, presumably educated, can arrive at the ludicrous conclusions articulated in the previous comment. Simply doing the math he articulated is a testament to the ignorance and ideological corruption that plagues those who, unfortunately, take time to go to the polls. By my calculations, the good doctor has unwittingly but profoundly exposed the precise reasons why our economy is in such a drastic state of economic peril. Between bad economic policy decisions and a fetish for spending and giving away precious taxpayer resources, that doesn't exist, the current administration is staring straight into the abyss of financial ruin. Thank God for the TEA PARTY forcing a few of our leaders to take pause. Like them or not, the TEA PARTY may once again (as they did in 1776) be the catalyst that has saved us from allowing this president to drive us the rest of the way over the cliff...no thanks to the previous administration as well.
