Telegraph - The US is bracing for devastation as a large and dangerous storm roars towards the densely populated East Coast, including New York. Hurricane Irene is forecast to become a lethal Category 4 storm with winds of 135 miles per hour by as early as today, according to the US National Hurricane Center. Tourists have been fleeing from the storm's path through the Caribbean in recent days as Irene gained in strength, pummeling the Bahamas last night as a Category 3 monster.
