From the Santa Fe New Mexican.com - Former Public Regulation Commissioner Jerome Block Jr. is back in jail. Block, who pleaded guilty to several felony charges in the last two months and agreed to resign from the PRC, was booked into the Santa Fe County jail at 12:11 p.m. Monday. The jail booking sheet indicated he was being held on a "remand order." When he was arrested Oct. 14 on a previous remand order, it was learned Block had failed a drug test and violated the conditions of his participation in a drug court program. The 34-year-old La Puebla resident, who has acknowledged a problem with prescription drugs, promised as part of his Sept. 28 plea agreement to enter drug court with state District Judge Michael Vigil. In exchange for his guilty pleas, and an agreement to resign from the PRC and never run for political office again, Block was given an opportunity to avoid jail time if he successfully completed the drug court program, which often takes 12 to 18 months.
