Really nice cartoon. You know if some people only read the Constitution they might find that Ron Paul is absolutely correct about foreign policy with respect to the limited powers granted Congress. 99% of what Congress and the feds have done in the area of foreign policy has been directly opposed to the limited powers granted by the Constitution. Congress cannot spend ANY money to fight wars in foreign countries because Congress is strictly limited to spending money for the debts, common defense and general welfare of the geographical and political area known as "the United States". No treaty may alter this beacause all treaties must conform to the limits of the Constitution.

What happens in other countries is no more your business than what your neighbor does until and unless that country or neighbor infringes on you personally. The US has no authority, no ethical position, no moral requirement to concern itself with other countries or peoples. The US would do us all a great favor by getting everyone home and providing the world with a good example of how to properly behave. The US has created people like bin Laden, Castro, Noriega, the Shaw, Mubarak, Ghadaffi, and thousands of others by meddling in other people's business.

Belittle Ron Paul all you want. The author of the cartoon is totally ignorant about the extent of the legitimate authority conveyed to the federal government by the Constitution. Go read it from beginning to end, see what power over foreign relations you can find. It will be to regulate commerce with foreign nations and a couple of other points like punishing offenses against the Law of Nations, and piracies and felonies on the high seas.

There are no allowances for military action outside our borders except in times of war when the federal government is defending the United States, and that does not mean some claimed interestes elsewhere, it means the geographical area of the United States. The language is clear in Article I Section 8.

Laugh it up war mongers...you are going to get all the war and military you want...all the checkpoints, all the death and destruction...women, children, everything, everywhere...as it happens you will laugh even harder and you will love it all won't you.
