Pulaski note: Some would say this is due to a lack of people illegally crossing our border, others like myself would say there are less apprehensions occuring by choice. In the beginning of the year there were reports of Border Patrol agents being told to limit their arrests. Officials with the El Paso Border Patrol sector say the number of apprehensions dropped to 10,345 in fiscal year 2011, which ended Sept. 30. That's a 15 percent drop from the 2010 total of 12,251.
