Former N.M. House Member Arrested

Greg Payne
From postcresent.com - A former member of the New Mexico House of Representatives has been arrested by police in Albuquerque on suspicion of drunken driving.  An officer stopped 44-year-old Greg Payne late Saturday for not using his turn signal and making a wide turn. A police report says he failed field sobriety tests and a breath test later showed a blood alcohol level about twice the .08 percent legal limit. Payne was charged with aggravated DWI and failing to signal a turn. He was also charged with two counts of child abandonment after telling officers his 7 and 9 year old children were home alone. The Albuquerque Journal reports that Payne has been a prominent figure in Albuquerque politics for the past decade in addition to a stint in the state House.  More News New Mexico
