New Mexico Business Weekly - Three small New Mexico companies have received a total of $195,000 in funding from a Los Alamos National Laboratory program that helps startups get traction in the marketplace. The money comes from the Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) from Los Alamos National Security LLC, which provides $1 million in annual funding to small businesses in northern New Mexico. HydroBio of Santa Fe received $75,000 to commercial irrigation control technology that programs and tests computer algorithms, calibrates algorithms for specific crops, and market development, LANL said. Testing will be done in Colorado, the Texas Panhandle, central Nebraska and the Pacific Northwest. Vapour Organic Beauty of Taos, which sells organic cosmetics, received $50,000 to help it expand into European markets. The money will be used to meet registration requirements in the European Union.
