The appeal was filed Thursday. It calls the Planning and Zoning Commission's rejection of a permit for "The Bronx" club illegal.
Attorney Lisa Wootton says the commission's 3-1 vote last week denying a special use permit was contrary to the city's design code, New Mexico zoning laws, the state Constitution, and the First and 14th Amendments.
Residents, clergy, and other religious advocates spoke for hours during the commission meeting in opposition of the proposed strip club.
Wootton told commissioners at that meeting that moral objections to the strip club were not relevant to a zoning issue.
