Governor Richardson declares Saturday June 12 "Cougar Smart New Mexico Day"

In June of 2008, a New Mexico man was killed and partially eaten by a cougar. While such occurances are rare, Governor Richardson has declared Saturday “Cougar Smart New Mexico Day.” The Governor stated “New Mexico is cougar country, as people get outdoors and enjoy the state's wildlife heritage; they need to stay alert to the possibility that cougars and bears share those lands. read more
