Aggie Women Fall 68-54 At Michigan

bleedCrimson.net Report
The Aggie women's basketball team could not overcome 25 turnovers as Michigan scored 28 points off the Aggie miscues en route to sending the Aggies to a 68-54 defeat in Ann Arbor, MI on Monday night. The Aggies trailed by just six points with 1:47 left to play and appeared ready to make another late comeback as Kaitlyn Soto stole the ball from Michigan's Veronica Hicks and headed towards the basket for a fastbreak layup. However, Soto missed a contested layup and Michigan's Nya Jordan grabbed the rebound and sent the ball ahead to Rachel Sheffer who coverted the fastbreak layup creating a four point swing in the game. The Aggies would not recover as Danisha Corbett would have the ball stolen on the Aggies' next possession and Veronica Hicks laid the ball in giving Michigan a 10 point lead with 57 seconds left. The Wolverines would hit a three pointer and a free throw in the final minute to make the final score 68-54.

Tabytha Wampler led the Aggies with a game-high 14 points, all coming in the second half. Michigan's Rachel Sheffer also scored 14 points. Jasmine Lowe added 12 for the Aggies and Danisha Corbett and Kaitlyn Soto each scored 10. The Wolverines also had three others in double-digits as Carmen Reynolds and Jenny Ryan scored 13 while Veronica Hicks added 10.

The Aggies fall to 6-4 on the season and return to action on Sunday in Tucson, AZ where they'll face the Arizona Wildcats. Click here to read more.
