APS Budget Dilemma: Cut Admin or Teachers?

KOB TV - The APS school board was scheduled for a vote on a budget proposal that calls for $37 million in cuts on Wednesday night. The Superintendent's proposal calls for increased class sizes, and because of that, APS officials are worried that the state might reject it. At the last school board meeting, Superintendent Winston Brooks said he had no idea what would happen if the state were to reject his budget. He was unclear if APS would have to go back to the drawing board and draft up an entirely new proposal.

State Secretary of Education Hanna Skandera stated it would be hard for her to approve a budget that calls for increased class sizes when further cuts could be made to central administration. Read full story here: News New Mexico
