The Nation - by Naomi Klein - It is true that responding to the climate threat requires strong government action at all levels. But real climate solutions are ones that steer these interventions to systematically disperse and devolve power and control to the community level, whether through community-controlled renewable energy, local organic agriculture or transit systems genuinely accountable to their users. Here is where the Heartlanders have good reason to be afraid: arriving at these new systems is going to require shredding the free-market ideology that has dominated the global economy for more than three decades. Another "LA LA Land" loon spewing some of the most prolific nonsense of our time. She talks out of both sides of her mouth as though everyone is too stupid to understand what she is saying. What this nonsense amounts to is nothing less than advocating a global governmental change that would wipe out capitalism and convert the entire planet to the same system that failed in the U.S.S.R. Rein in corporations? What, do some kind of global nationalization? Wrestle away private equity ownership of publicly traded shares and create some kind of watch dog organization that determines how profitable a company can be and at the same time picks winners and losers? Based on WHO'S decisions? Would the decision makers be derived from whoever can amass the largest and deadliest WMD's? I ask because that is exactly what it would take. Fine, Naomi! Lets start with YOUR EARNINGS! When you turn over your salary to my organization, of hand picked administrators, we'll start dictating who gets what with YOUR earnings and how those earnings can be best invested on behalf of those residing on planet Earth. What do you say about that? We'll decide how important your contributions and ideas are to the world of journalism and send you what you need to live on...if there's anything left. I gather Naomi wouldn't like that plan. Oh well, I guess capitalism on planet Earth will die AFTER the next holocaust IF the socialists and communists finally outnumber the capitalists. Where do you guys find these morons?
