UNM Hires Former Notre Dame Coach

From KOAT-TV.com - ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico has hired former Notre Dame coach Bob Davie to head up its troubled football team. Vice President of Athletics Paul Krebs announced the appointment Wednesday. UNM has scheduled a press conference Thursday afternoon to introduce Davie, who will become the university's 31st head coach. The terms of Davie's contract haven't been released. As head coach at Notre Dame, Davie went 35-25 and advanced to three bowls, including one BCS bowl (the 2001 Fiesta Bowl). Davie also spent 20 years as an assistant, including three at Notre Dame as defensive coordinator, and nine at Texas A&M. The Lobos' last bowl appearance was a victory in the 2007 New Mexico Bowl.
