Members of Hamas Enjoying a Rally |
The story of the first day of the Democratic National Convention was made before Michelle Obama ever took the stage last night. The story was the removal of a few words and phrases from the party platform. These specific choices made by the Obama administration tells the average American how much the Democratic Party has changed in just four short years. The choices made by Democrats were simply remarkable. The inluence of Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farakhan could be seen everywhere.
For starters, the Democrats removed three sentences identifying Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The language below was chosen for removal:

The Democrats also simply removed without further comment the following language designed to call attention to the danger of the notorious terrorist group Hamas: "The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist, and abides by past agreements."

"We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential." In this year's platform the Obama administration decided the words "God-given" should simply be removed. The changes can be summarized as follows: References to God are to be diminished except of course for the DNC's sponsorship of the Muslim call to prayer event. Condemnation to a radical Muslim terrorist organization has been driopped and Israel's capital city was put up for grabs. Interesting.
