Ken Miyagishima
Incumbent Mayor Ken Miyagishima was re-elected in a landslide yesterday capturing 62% of the votes in a three way race against challengers Dolores Connor and Michael Huerta. It's not a landslide when more than 50% of the voters don't vote. I would assume that the number of voters in LC is around 50K, so we had a 20% turn out from which the mayor received 62% of the vote. That means roughly 13% of the voters decided who would be mayor and 13% is NOT a landslide. You have to count the nonvotes as against ALL choices.

In fact, it would be nice to add a "NONE OF THE ABOVE" choice to all ballots so people can voice their desires a little louder, instead of just saying to heck with it and staying home.

Another term of leftist politics at the local level. Abuses of eminent domain and costly litigation. Jobs? Are you kidding? There's not one member of this city council that cares about jobs...except their own. The voters have once again...not spoken except to say, "to hell with it all".
